Privacy Policy

Effective date: 3 August 2026

BenchBalancer ("we", "us") is a rotation planning tool for sports coaches, available as an iOS app and as a web app at benchbalancer.com. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we hold, why we hold it, and how you can delete it. If anything is unclear, email us at elijah@benchbalancer.com.

1. What we collect

We collect two kinds of information, and both are linked to your account:

That is the whole list. We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, health information, payment details, browsing history, or advertising identifiers.

2. How we use it

Only to run the service:

We do not use your information for anything else. There is no profiling and no automated decision-making. Today we only send account emails (sign-up confirmation, password reset). If we ever introduce optional product-update emails, they will be opt-in and easy to unsubscribe from.

3. Where your data is stored

Your account and everything you enter are stored in a hosted PostgreSQL database run by Supabase Inc, our data processor, in the Sydney, Australia region. Data travels between your device and the database over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and database access rules ensure your account can only see its own data.

The web app also keeps a copy of your current sport's data (squad, lineup, game state and preferences) in your browser's localStorage. That copy lives only on your own device so the app keeps working through page refreshes and patchy sideline internet; you can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

4. What we do not do

5. Cookies, local storage and website analytics

The apps themselves do not use cookies. Signing in stores an authentication token on your device (in browser localStorage on the web) so you stay logged in; it identifies you to us and nobody else.

Separately, pages on the benchbalancer.com website, viewed in a browser, include two standard website tools that are not part of the iOS app:

6. Children's information

BenchBalancer accounts are held by adult coaches and team managers. Children do not create accounts. However, the player names a coach enters are usually the names of children on their team, so we treat that information with particular care:

7. Sharing

We share data with as few parties as possible:

8. Retention and deletion

We keep your data until you delete it. You can delete individual players, games and records inside the app at any time, and you can delete everything at once:

Account deletion is immediate, permanent and irreversible. It removes your profile, all squads and player details, all games, match results and statistics, all schedules and availability records, any live game sessions, and the sign-in account itself - the deleted credentials can no longer be used to log in. If you cannot access your account, email us and we will delete it for you.

9. Your rights

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will post the new version here and update the effective date at the top. For significant changes we will also let you know in the app or by email. We will never quietly reduce your privacy protections.
